Lab Hardware Update: New iOS and Android Phones

Lab Hardware Update: New iOS and Android PhonesHappy New Year everyone! Ā Santa was nice to us and brought us a handful of new iOS and Android mobile devices during the holiday season, and weā€™re happy to share them with anyone needing compatibility testing. Ā We now have the following devices available in our lab inventory:

  • Apple iPhone X: This phone boasts a stunning 5.8-inch OLED display with a high resolution and wide color range. It’s powered by the speedy A11 Bionic chip and has a dual-camera system on the back for impressive photos and videos, including Portrait mode with depth-of-field effects. Face ID facial recognition replaces the traditional fingerprint scanner for secure unlocking.
  • Apple iPhone 8 Plus: Featuring a 5.5-inch Retina HD display, the iPhone 8 Plus offers a vibrant viewing experience. It also packs the A11 Bionic chip for fast performance. The dual rear cameras capture detailed photos and enable Portrait mode, while the front-facing camera is great for selfies. Unlike the iPhone X, it utilizes a Touch ID fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking and lacks Face ID.
  • Google Pixel 2: This phone sports a 5-inch AMOLED display with a sharp resolution. The Pixel 2 is known for its excellent camera, thanks to its single-lens system with powerful software processing. It runs on a Snapdragon 835 processor and offers a clean, bloatware-free Android experience.
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 8: This device features a large and gorgeous 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display, perfect for multitasking and enjoying multimedia. The S Pen stylus lets you write, draw, and navigate the phone with precision. It has a powerful Snapdragon 835 processor and a dual-camera system on the back for versatile photography.

No real surprises here; theyā€™re all popular devices running modern mobile operating systems, and will assuredly see considerable use. Ā No new tablets this time around, although Iā€™m sure weā€™ll pick up a couple in the months ahead.

As the new year winds up, we hope youā€™ll keep us in mind for all your hardware testing needs; please contact us if you have any questions or are planning a project that you might need our assistance with.
